You only flow 80-90gph through the 2LF reactor...dont know what you have going through the big boy.

I agree about the not needing the fx5 part...because those to me are more of a all in one can run your whole tank with big bio area type canisters. Thats another reason why I went with the smaller cheap xp3's. I just like the idea of trapping up junk in the lower level of the tank before it clogs the filter socks. See what its like with out then decide....

In that case I can split the output from my monster reactor to two outputs then, one going straight to the sump and one going to the 2LF reactor then to the sump. The one going straight to the sump will later go to the UV before going to the sump.

I am going to keep my eye out for a good deal on an xp3 or an eheim 2215 or 2217. I'm not in a big hurry so hopefully I can find a good used one. I have xp3's on two of my tanks and I am very happy with them (for the price).

There was a dr foster and smith deal with those aq110 for cheap...they also had a code for the xp3 for 109.99. I printed that and went to petsmart and did price match. I dont have a copy of that anymore tho and I think that coupon code doesnt work any more. But I thought someone else had it for that cheap or close with out a code.

Also watch with the 2LF one it says not to put the ball valve after the reactor becasue it might cause a leak...you put it before the reactor. If you T it off the pump for the monster you might want to do it before the reactor not after. You might cause a restriction and make the monster leak....becasue you will end up with a ballvalve between the 2LF and the monster.

I can do it that way as well. What I will do is try it inline first (splitting line after the monster reactor) without using the ball valve and then figure out how many gph of flow I am getting. If it is getting more than 90 gph I will split it before it goes to the monster reactor.

Sound like a plan?

Yeah try it out I just wanted to give you a heads up before you end up with more water on the floor lol. Also it says (at least for the 2LF phos stuff) that you want the media to just be dancing a little on the top...to much flow will cause the media to grind down in to powder.

Go for the 2217 I got two 2215's running and all they need is more flow. The bio on these relentlessly long lasting filters is amazing and they come packed with substrate pro. Low maintenance as well :headbang2

I have a 2213 and it has been a great filter for several years now. I own three eheims total and I feel that they are the most reliable canisters made.
