sweet! that sump is almost a double bed :grinno:

You know how it is, take a few knocks and you loose faith on a project for a while, i won't quit though, although it has felt that way at times

either way, it's gotta be done before the baby comes,5th december is not all that far off hey :WHOA: she'll be done dont you guys worry.

are you waiting on specific building regs regarding the proposed tank, or the overall extension/build?

5mm ply coming tomorrow, i'm going to add some more bracing before the ply is done, mainly along the bottom and most of the way up the sides, internally, using roof straps that are used to attach the roof plate of a house to the wall to stop the roof/timbers parting company with the house. i'll get it lined out this week, ready for the fibre glassing skills of my dad, round two hear we come.

Glad youve got your 2nd wind mate, were waiting for the building regs etc before we get the money sorted and can start the build.

On a side note i got a price for a 9ft x 3ft piece of 15mm glass from aquariums limited today and the price was £361 + £45 delivery which is pretty good i think.

i'm sure the regs will be fine steve, generally they're simple (not attempting to teach you to suck eggs here) keep the inspector sweet and it all goes to plan.

your price on the glass does sound very reasonable, especially next to my 600 quid quote, i think my quote is not outrageous at all. cheers mate :)

back on track now. added some more bracing throughout the base of the tank, there are already a lot of L brackets underneath the epoxy, but i added more heavy duty roofing straps and brackets.

the bottom should now be plenty strong enough, i'm also gonna add another inch of timber around the viewing window and brace the lot together, to give the glass a bit more area to adhere to (cheers alan for the advice when you popped round.)

do the ply lining this week then go buy the fibre glass.

Good to see progress again mike. How easy/simple was the fibreglassing? i'm wanting to use that on my next build too and debating whether to get someone to do it or have a crack at it myself.
