nice project mike, like the filter build, cnt wait to see it finished. got a nice space at the bottom of my garden might just have to do the same, just the wife to convince. keep up the good work

how are you fixing the front panel mike ?

are you using mastic or gaskit ?

and you went for acrylic not glass didnt you ?

the plan is to spot some silicone along the bottom to cure before panel arrives, then seal generously everywhere inside the frame, push the front panel up to the frame then we were gonna drill it and use some stainless screws all round, sealant through the screw holes. i'm gonna use a sealant called CT1, its V.O.C. free and i use it at work a lot, seals and bonds all plastics etc. its working fine in the filter. yep went for acrylic, 25mm thick. thinking now off dropping the water level about a foot so i can plant it out with orchids and other epiphytes, on some more oak.

oh yeah, once it's sealed in i will seal round it on the inside also for good measure.

done a test on the filter this morning, filled with water, put some green food colouring in the first section and rigged up a small pump to see if it pulls through ok, worded alright but i think i need to drop the height of two of the divisions to get the water levels right when it's circulating through. holds water still though :)

acrylic will be fine sitting on the floor of the tank mike

you may not need the srews depending on mastic used
