Sooner you pair the fish up the better, less risk of the sooty killing the other fish. Or you could go an aggresive tank and just have heaps of mean bastards in there like a sooty Jar Coaly etc. But more than likely som will die.

I like bass too. Was actually considering getting one instead of a sooty but heard that they grow real slow. My mate has one living with some long fin oscars and it drags them around by their fins, is pretty funny to watch.

My mate got his bass before I got my sooty and the bass was about 3cm bigger than my sooty when i got it. When i saw the bass about 2 weeks ago I would say that my sooty would be about 3cm bigger than it now.
