Does the "U" that goes in the tank necessarily have to reach the bottom? What's a good thing to cover the pipe in to make it blend into a reef aquarium?

The U that sits inside doesn't have to touch the bottom but it does have to be lower than the T outside of the tank. You could try spraying the PVC tubing with Kyrlon Fusion spray paint. But make sure its cured properly.

It definately helped :D How much flow can it handle if made of 1.25" PVC? Will it work of made of 1.5"? Read ont his thread it isn't effective when the pipe gets too large.

They both work. But it is recomended to use 1.25, but two 1" pipes work as well. Two is safer then one anyway.

I used a 1" on a 75g.

I spray painted it with my Krylon Black Fusion. It looks 100 times better! Ill post some pix tomorrow.

And by the way, on the above post, it is for my 29g, not 75g. Sorry for the mistake. :)
