At last! Progress! I corralled enough guys to lift the tank from the floor onto the stand today. I need to go buy more screws to finish screwing the stand together, but progress from here should be relatively rapid.

I'm debating using some krylon fusion to paint the inside of the tank. Some of the black gelcoat has taken on a bit of a patchy appearance.

EDIT: Pics Added

It is suck a lovely tank. What a shame it can't fit in the lounge room. This has always been my problem with this hobby too - you need to choose a house for your tank!!!

Thanks! I originally built it to fit in the other house (built the tank for the house, not the house for the tank!) Unfortunately this house is laid out differently. This way though the garage can be my relaxation sanctuary where I go and watch my fish! When we do move into a permanent place, hopefully there will be room for this tank inside, and if not, well, I might just have to build another one in the house that's not so small!

sprayed the inside with black krylon fusion this weekend to cover the mottled appearance of the gelcoat. I will be trying to find a local source for some pool sand to put in there as a substrate over the next week or so.

I'm mostly a lurker, but I just had to say what an excellent build this is. You certainly have a good eye for this sort of thing. I plan on starting my first plywood build after this winter (no heated garage :( ) and this has really helped me get an idea of how I'm going to do mine. I can't wait to see it finished with those TSN's in there. Did you end up getting both btw? I see the pics of the 26" (have you thought of a name?) but I also read you were thinking of a 36" earlier in the thread.

Thanks for the kind words caddi. The 26" guy is all I have right now (I'm calling him Norbert :nilly:), as the temporary accomodations I have for him are just finishing cycling now. There is another one (around 30") about 5 hours away that I may pick up as well when I get the tank up and running. I'm not sure how comfortable the two large fish would be in my 200gl tub, and if they were to disagree at all, there's not a lot I could do about seperating them.

Well I can't wait to see Norbert in his new home, I'm sure he'll love it. I would have to agree 2 big TSNs would probably not be so good in a 200gl tub. :nilly:

Reading this thread really makes me wish that I had a heated garage. I live 1 hour from the BC/USA border in WA state, and this time of the year It would take forever for fiberglass resin to cure in my freezing garage.

I havent read your thread in a while and decided to catch up. it looks great decided it was more important to have a fish room than a home for the car eh? Good choice!!! I know how these hobbys tend to conflict. keep it up I am back watching. I love your tank and its design.
