I live on the west side of the state (San Juan Islands) It's currently 49 degrees outside and dropping, but the worst part is the rain. My house/garage is old (built in '82) and does not keep moisture out well anymore. I think a combo of the cold/wet would be killer on trying to build a plywood tank. However I suppose I may have to give it a try using some heaters.
Sorry to thread jack, back on topic... When are going to get that bad boy filled?
As long as it's above freezing I've had decent luck getting FG to cure. You are right though, the moisture definitely does not help.
As for a fill date, Well the krylon takes 7 days to cure, and I'm going to Vancouver to visit the family from the 10th to the 15th, then I have some jetsetting to do with work. So it will be a little while.
I have to get some 2.5" deck screws to finish screwing together the stand (it's missing a few screws atm) and level it, but then she'll be good for a fill.
I also have not 100% decided how I'm going to circulate water in this thing yet. I have a pair of Quietone 9000's, but to be honest, I think they are junk. I have a newer 4000 and it's great, but these older 9000's take FOREVER to start in the right direction, and are quite loud. I was going to use my 2 koralia 4's for circulation, but it's really not what they were designed for, and I don't think they move the advertised flow rate.
What I want to do is get a couple more Q1 4000's and use them with eductors to circulate water through the filter, but the time and money and hassle and blah blah blah. We'll see.
