Yeah I know... I wouldn't do it if there was an actual danger to the fish's organs.
Today's report:
About 10 Sea Catfish, a mammoth 15lb Gaftopsail Catfish (fought for 5 minutes, ripped 20 feet of line, I leaned 5 feet over the seawall with my Basspro fish grippers while my dad held my feet) a 6" Grouper, a Jack Crevalle, and another 20" Goliath
^^I have never been down here in summer before. I've only been here in April. But the trip was delayed, and here we are, and I have to say, the fishing has been INSANE.
Ok this past weekend though it was far worse in the long run than I would have ever thought it could be. Did see a few Bass. And until this past weekend I was starting to think that the Bass just wouldn't hit a Spro Frog. But in the few sparse minutes I got out this past weekend I did pick up 3 Bass at the CNJ fishing from 7am till about 8:10am while jaw jacking with a fellow fishermen about a few other places to try. 2 Bass on a Spro Frog and 1 on the famous Chug Bug Popper, before heading over to Rosedale lake only to get shut out for the 40 minutes that I was there, before returning back too the medical emergency that came up in the middle of everything, while I was there.
While I'll agree with Terry, that it's pretty hot in the middle of the day in South Jersey, it isn't that bad at 5:30am until about 9:30am and again around 6pm to 8:30pm, especially if you got a bunch of 4 through 10 yrs olds with you. I found this one pond that I was able to fish for like a total of say 1 hr in two days until I saw it was posted No Trespassing, but not no fishing. I lost a good 3 plus pounder to a combo of passing the rod around and my little 5 yrs old niece needing too potty, at which time I noticed the sign that said NO Trespassing!
I will return to this pond again soon, especailly after respooling my reel at a cost of $25 only to get one cast and half a fight and then make a dash to the nearest potty!. Yes it looks like I will be in South Jersey, again real soon, like it or not for the July 4th weekend a combo of a medical emergency and a need to watch the kids until this emergency passes.
This last photo was shot by my 10yr old nephew at the new spot that we later noticed as I took off in search of a potty, said No Trespassing. It's a great little pond that is surrounded by wild spearmint and Canadian geese poop and has duckweed so thick that sometimes the Spro Frog doesn't make a dent until after a few pulls.
And if I'm lucky I will get another shot at the either early morning or evening fishing again real soon. I hope too see a few fishermen out there this time that can bear the heat.
