ya who knows but thats a real nice cat...are you getting any flatheads to bite? Im headin farther up the susky on saturday i beleive and wanted to try and get some flatheads

i havent tried any flatheads baits yet in our new honeyhole, but we've only caught 1 this year. it was a few weeks ago on a bluegill head, and it wasn't far from where our new hole is. he was small (2ish lbs) but we know theyre around.

ill have a chance tomorrow to get some bluegills and if it stays nice i might be able to convince my dad to take the boat out. If i dont get a flathead then ill hopefully get a nice big channel.

Cichlid Fiend, you bet he was. Best fight ive had on that monster rod of mine.

Spot fished-1

Time fished-2 hrs

Fish landed-3

Got off alittle early, so I met up with Dennis at 'Rosedale". Befre I got there He said his first was 3+ pounds and then two small ones after that. Once it stooped rainning they stop hitting the buzzy,by then Dennis had landed two but nothing wanted my chatter bait. I made a great choice with the white/chart spinny and with that I was able to land 3 quickly before I called it quits!

Kinda slow but I still enjoyed it!!!

I have a small spot with tons of small mouth bass caught 4 in half an hour landed the fifth like an hour later. this fishing season has been great its my second year last year I was just going for sun fish now im just going for bass. fished one spot under a bridge with my kayak on my third cast with a tiny curly tail rig I caught my largest bass 14 inch. im patient but i like to move around when I fish so I look for pan fish hering and thats how I find my bass. whent searching for a new spot then whent back to that spot with a larger curly tail and landed another one:headbang2 felt I had to share that with someone who cares im fourteen in NJ not many fish people

Do you find that flatheads like deeper or cooler water? Ive caught channels in a river that is a max of about 5 feet deep and i heard there were flatheads there but i could not picture them being in such shallow water, but i know for a fact they are in a certain deeper higher current portion of the river.

well i figured i wouldnt waste my time posting pics since all my pics are pretty much of the same thing lol.. like dreamsofpeace has said, the bite has been amazing after the rain. I have been catching huge perch and catfish from 4 inches up to 5lbs.

I figured i would post a little one i caught since its something different lol.

from what ive read via internet, since i havent caught that many flatheads myself, is that they will stay in deeper portions of rivers until night and move into shallows to feed. this occurs more often come late late summer all the way through fall. when september hits start fishing coves and tributaries of your end of the susky that get shallower.

id love to give you more info but i havent quite figured them out myself. im still searching for that 10lb+ channel cat in the meantime.

above conowingo dam we have peach bottom power plant, the outlet of warm water is said to draw them in. It is roughly 22 feet deep and everyone, their mother, stepbrother, baby's mama, and dog has apparently caught flatheads there. I can sit in it all day and pull small channels out but i have yet to catch a flattie there, im hoping come october/november that the big boys will push the small ones out.

mother nature has blessed me with a cast net full of baby shad (the cadilliac of catfish baits). I am also armed with a bag of fresh shrimp, a tub of nightcrawlers and a bucket of bluegills. If i don't get a monster tonight they aren't there.

goood stuff.. you ever try chicken liver?

chicken liver is way to messy for me to mess with. its cut bait or shrimp mostly, i seldom use worms because they catch me eels.

i got 9 really nice channels, dont think i caught any under 4lbs but none above 6lbs. No flatheads =(. well try again next week and hope for the best.

Ya i have personally gotten my biggest channels on chicken liver. What kind of cut bait do you use? We cut up the smaller perch we catch but i never tend to get any good bites. Clams have been the hot bait around here.
