So I'm looking at this ad on Craigslist. And I'm most likely going to pick up a pike cichlid from a guy today but he also has this what he calls a 12" MARBLE GAR that he also has for sale but I can quite make out the what kind it is it kinda looks like a longnose to me but the nose is kinda short for its size what do you guys think

I feel pretty good about my guess but im pretty sure I have a Fl Gar What is the difference between spotted and FL I thought they were the same ?
It looks like a Florida gar to me. I certainly would hope that it's not a spotted gar considering how strict some Canadian provinces are about them.
They're not the same species by the way although they're very closely related; Florida gars are Lepisosteus platyrhincus while spotted gars are Lepisosteus oculatus.
Thanks so much guy and thanks for the clarification, I have been reading all the threads on here about Gars so I believe it is FL. 
LoL!!!it looks somewhat to me like a alligator gar/needlenose im not completely positive but others im sure can give you a 100% on it.
