It's not a gar rather it's a pike characin.

Just bought this as a spatular gar!!! I'm no gar expert and the guy in the store when I asked him done the 18inch measurement with his hands... Imagine my horror when I search spatular gar when I get home and an alligator pops up!! Tell me this isn't an alligator gar, please?

They usually get 18-24" the first year. My question, what's up with it's back. Looks like it had broken it's back at some point.

Really! Its not only not going to stop growing at two foot it also has a broken back??? Gets better!!! Its in a grow out at the month with a 3inch rtc and a pleco.. Its about 5inch.

this is an alligator gar, scientific name is Atractosteus spatula! Sometime they call it spatula so if you see something with the name spatula or spatula gar it is most likely an alligator gar!
