How Long Has Your Equipment Lasted?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my mom has an old aquaclear heater from around the time i was born (i'm 19),
i have had a Hagen Elite 100w heater since i began fish keeping like 4-5yrs ago, it still works

Eheim (8) 6 running for up 3 running at least 12 years no problems. The two not working one is due to my error, the other nee an impeller. The Aquaclear HOB filters they are also diehards and they come at a great price.

Oceanic 29 Gal aquarium and an Aqua Clear 1200 HOB power filter. Bought them both in 1984 and they are both still "chugging along"!

My favorite longest lasting filters are aquaclear 500s. For the $$, they turn a LOT of water, and last forever. Never had a cannister last that long without something breaking.
I've had 2 aquaclear 500's in use for the last 7 years straight. They have about 12 years total of run time on them. I had a two year downtime with tanks, cleaned these up, and they statred working instantly. Easy to use and relatively cheap.

Rena Smart Heater. The only heater I couldn't break. Also one of few heaters I've found with a decent length power cable. Also they don't run hot externally so no burnt fish or rays.

Aqua Supreme King Filter!!
I've look an look for one back in 1990
and found one Brand New in it's box!!
It's still looks an runs strong!! Best filter ever made for HOB , I think they came out in late '50 or early '60 and never change there model an look .
I use it as back up now , but every time I plug it in it starts right up!
