Talk to Bong or Pedro @ aquascape. They will hook you up with some gator gars!

I thought arapaima were tropical and can't survive in an unheated pond in the winter?

Dude, don't listen to that guy. He probably just saw the river monsters show that was on last night about those things. They are ugly and useless, you are already on the right path with wanting Gars so just stick with it.

Now, have you spoke with anyone at Aquascape yet regarding the Gar?
We need to get this project going into 2nd gear.

Ok, so I was right about the arapaima. The thing about the alligator gar is the high price. I figured on stocking 12 of them and 12 longnose gar. At $65/alligator gar, that comes to $780 for just those. I want to make sure they will survive for sure if I'm going to pay $65 a piece since they will be about 4 in. when I get them lol. I was thinking of maybe making an order from TFD for all of those gar plus some other fish for a bit over $200 lol. However, I do have a new 20ft x 20ft piece of pond liner, so I could make an indoor pond to grow them out a bit so they don't get eaten.

Dude, I love where you're going with this. However even I have to admit that I think 24 gars is a little too much for that pond. I mean it's cool while they are smaller, but when the gators grow it's gonna be pretty tight in there. Maybe wait for another opinion on that... Also the guys at AS will cut you a deal if you buy a large amount. What kinda budget are we working with here?
You could just do like 6 and 6 for now.

Also where does the water in that pond flow in and out at?

The water flows in from the white pipe on the right and also from both ground runoff and an underground spring. There is also another white pipe on the left, but it only accounts for a small portion of the water inflow. It flows out through a drainage pipe that is hidden within the cattails. I would say a budget of about $250 to $300. I'm located in southern Armstrong County in western PA near the Allegheny River, so it gets pretty cold here in the winter.
