Keeping Gar in a Pond?

Any reason other than their large size? I know that they used to live around here and even further north, so I don't think temperature is going to be a problem.

the size of ur pond and thier size. i dont think ur pond could handle that large of a predator. plus temp. it just might be an issue.

Id say go with no more than 10. no need to overstock

Any idea as to what size to stock at? I have other fish in there that may eat them if they are too small.

Dude this isn't "Lake Placid" , but the thought of that puts a smile on my face.
Sheep/cow are a bit too big but I would throw some chickens,ducks,cats and dogs out there for my boys to snack on

Where could I get longnose gar around 12"? I've checked hatcheries, vendors, and stores, but I haven't had any luck finding anything over 6".

get them that size but stock more of them. if they take they take. if not try again.
