Yes, I have tried pennywort. I have a bit in there now. Its wrapped around a branch on the surface.
I'm hoping it will take. I had it planted in the substrate at first but It was not doing very well. Hopefully I will have more luck with it as a floating plant.
It's one of those easy to grow plants that I have trouble with.

I’ve had trouble growing it too. In large or small tanks. Not sure why.
 
Collected a few leaves from local woodland yesterday and added them to the tank. I was really missing having leaf litter since I ran out.
Won't be long now till leaves start dropping here, I will grab a lot more this year.
Lots of spawning going on again. The ancistrus are always at it. Not sure how many are in there now. Every time I first turn the lights on in the morning, there are normally a few tiny ones on the front glass.
A pair of rams are hovering over wriggles as I type and I'm sure my festivums won't be far behind. Lots of pre spawn behaviour from them lately.
All in all, still really enjoying this tank. Always seems to be something going on.

All that breeding, shows what happens when you give the fish a close replica of their natural environment. Tank looks great man, good stuff.

If you dont' mind me asking, what type of sand are you using for the bottom.
