you do realize rich franklin was champ when they fought right? rich franklin was ranked #1 at middle weight by all major mma sites as well as the general public before they fought. even myself, I thought rich would be champ for much longer. and he may have if Anderson hadn't come along. rich was never the same again. Anderson took his soul that day

forrest was still a top ten fighter at the time and even though forrest was outmatched, who has humiliated him like that ever? I don't believe it was rigged, it was just so inconceivable for someone to be able to move up and make a respected fighter look like that, that some have called it rigged

as for bonnar, same thing, though outmatched, no one has done those things to him. just completely disregard and almost disdain that someone like bonnar was worthy to step in the cage with him. we will never see someone treat another fighter like that. just stand flat footed up against the fence, hands down and then finish with such ferocity when he feels like it. I don't care how mismatched a fight is. only once in a million will we see that level humiliation

lol @ as soon as he met a young wrestler he lost. silva is pushing 40 and not in his prime. I have stated before the first Weidman fight that I can see silva has lost a step even though he continued winning.

he's reign in the ufc were against ranked fighters in the top 10 except maybe 4-6 of them. I don't know where you're getting this "most of his fights were against old/passed their prime" from

All of his opponents were old out of their prime- even Franklin and really didn't have any good fighters in that weight class at that time. Bonner- really? C'mon! Even Henderson Who is one of my favorite fighters is on his last leg lol. Why didn't he go down in weight and fight GSP? Because he knew he'd lose- he only wanted the old washed up guys lol

darth p, I can understand that. it's not that I am even huge into showboating. I think it's entertaining but the bottom line for me is, fighters that show off and showboat are good for the sport.

it makes people tune in either to witness greatness or wait for that person to get knock the eff out.

I say, if you have the skills to do it and make millions doing it,............ by all means, more power to you.

I guess growing up as a little kid and being a wrestling fan, I don't mind the trash talking part leading up to it. A little showboating after adds to the show as well (not over an injured opponate though), it's the during I dislike. And yeah, he got away with it for a long time. I wouldn't tell him he shouldn't do it, probably already knows that. As long as people don't tell me I have to like it, I'm all good. But you are right, I watched his fights hoping someone would knock his arse out. (only reason I watch GSP fights too)

when he fought dan, dan had just come from pride and knocked wanderlei's head off. he was not out of his prime when they fought. that was around the time Dan's career really started taking off actually. do you know that people were calling him decision dan before? roughly once in the ufc he started getting known for the H bomb. even though he was knocking people out before, he also had a lot of decisions

I completely disagree about rich. now if you wanna talk about how the division was weak at the time that's another thing. but rich was not old and out of his prime when they fought

you should name who was old during his middle weight reign. you bring up forrest and bonnar but those fights aren't even at middle weight

and asking why he didn't go down to middleweight is like asking why gsp didn't go down to fight the lightweight champ. or why is jon jones not moving down to fight Anderson at one point.

usually it's the smaller fighter that moves up to challenge himself because it's harder for the bigger fighters to move down. it's not like boxing where weight divisions are separated by like 4 pounds. we're talking over ten pounds for mma

Yeah ok, the. How come 99% of the guys he fought no longer are fighting? Because they were old and washed up!

wow, are you serious right now?

uh,........yea,........maybe they are old and washed up

or maybe, just maybe anderson's just a durable guy who's been around a long time.

when you've been fighting pro since 1997-present, it's not unusual that some of the fighters you've fought are now retired. that's just a testament to his durability and greatness

you need to get your facts straight dude.

dan is not the only active fighter who was a former opponent of Anderson's. this straw man argument isn't working out for you in this debate. but keep coming with the straw men and i'll keep dropping knowlege

besides, stop talking about dan like today's dan is the same dan that fought Anderson back in 2008. that's 6 years. in combat sports (especially mma) that's like decades ago. it's not even unusual that some fighters careers only last 6 years

BTW - weight doesn't mean that much. Look at the old pride and UFC fights. Guys half sometimes three times lighter were winning against giants. Silva didn't have any good fighters in middle weight during his reign. They threw Franklin in for a second fight because they had no one else and he was all washed up. Finally Silva met a young good fighter in his prime and got crushed twice- end of story. The only fights I'm going to remember 20 years from now is how he got his *** put to sleep for clowning and how he got his leg snapped like a pretzel by the same guy. lol!

btw, I knew the jones/Anderson fight would never happen.

they would never make that fight especially since jones still have a line of contenders waiting in the wing. not to mention both have expressed their respect and admiration for one another and do not desire to face eachother

as a guy who is a "true fan" and "know so much" about fighting you should know all these things.

I've gotta admit, I've been suspicious that you're trolling me a while now
