anyways, let's have some real intelligent talk about last night's card
since some inconsiderate poster in here has already spoiled it by naming winners and losers immediately after the fights.
the main event surprised me. I saw that barao didn't seem like himself. he and aldo are known for throwing leg kicks. he hardly threw any and when he did, they were not with the intent that we are used to seeing. but maybe the huge punch he took in the first round had a lot to do with it. and tj did an amazing job, his foot work, movement, ability to mix it all up. he fought the fight of his life last night. props to him. one thing I believe is that barao may have slacked a little during training camp. I think when you are so dominant for so long, you start to slack and get over confident. but i'm only speculating. right now tj is the champ and he deserves all the accolades that comes with his accomplishment. a lot of times great champions are forged from losses than they are from wins so I am very interested in seeing how he comes back from this loss
hendo vs dc,......... what can we say? dan fought a guy who is simply too strong, too young, too big, too much for him at this point in his career. one guy is just approaching his prime while the other is in the twilight of his career. I didn't like this match up at all when it was made and I expected dan to get destroyed even though he always has that puncher's chance. without landing the H bomb this fight was done before it got started, imo.
lawler vs Ellenberger, i'm a little disappointed to see that it was as one sided as it was. jake really had nothing for lawler. he was outclassed and out hussled. jake is really turning into just a decent wrestler with ko power. avoid his strikes and you can outwork him rather easily it seems. it hurts to say that since I like jake but he really needs to change something in his routine. his last two outings have been very disappointing for someone whom we've seen has shown potential
huge props to Jaime varner man. my gosh I was cringing watching that fight. you just can't deny his heart. broken foot/ankle early in the fight and he doesn't give up, still trying his best to try and not only stay in the fight but he was really trying to go for a finish. mad respect
