that's my point. she is hot right now. whether we agree she should be or not, she is. she didn't have the star power right away but dana saw the potential and he was right. and that's all i really care about right now. again, Weidman's rematch with silva got him plenty of exposure. it has died down due to his inactivity. but just watch, if he smashes vitor he will be right up there again in the buzz zoneRhonda didn't have star power. She wasn't even that big in Strikeforce. Her gold at the Olympics barely made a splash because less people follow womens Judo then follow WMMA. They slapped us in the face with her until we paid attention. Brock was already a star.
Is Honda a good role model that you'd want your daughter imitating? She is a huge *****.
I don't think that WMMA is needed for MMA to grow. Bringing in other men with their patriotic fans (like Connor did) would do the job and be more entertaining.
I agree that Aldo not speaking English is holding him back (I don't think it should, but I agree that it is). Weidman has a big fight coming up against Vitor. Go to any major MMA site and you will see more articles about Rousey (who doesn't have a fight lined up) than you will about Weidman. If they invested into Weidman like they did with Rousey, he'd be a much bigger star. Weidman has been injured, but at least he has a fight coming up.
How about Dillishaw? He's another guy who just defeated one of the P4P best and has the rematch coming up next month.
At the end of the day, I'd rather see men fight and women be women. There's not much point in arguing because that's how I feel and if you guys enjoy womans fighting, that's cool too. I won't like WMMA anytime soon and I won't pay for it. I'd rather see the UFC expand into other countries (which they are slowly doing). The UFC just got TV deals in the Czech Republic and Slovakia which is a bigger deal than anything going on in WMMA.
and yea, i agree about aldo, it shouldn't be that way but i'm just making a statement. unfortunately it's true to a degree. and he is an absolute beast. but his ppv's do poor. but because of conor, i guarantee you that fight is gonna do good
mma has been in a slump the last couple of years in terms of ppv buys. like it or not, mma needs any kind of push and if this is where it gets it from, i'm all for it
i admit, i still get a little squeamish seeing a girl get smashed in the nose or an ear falling off, i get that, but at the end of the day, hey, everything is just a plus for mma
that's what it comes down to for me. i'm not trying to convince you or rock. just wanted to see your perspective on why you see it the way you do and maybe give a little perspective at the same time. this was a good discussion
it's too bad, i agree with you about other champs not getting promoted enough. there are excellent champs and highly skilled but they have to pull a lot of the weight by and for themselves too. guys like cain, mighty mouse, aldo, dillishaw,........they don't seem to have the "it" factor. only the special ones do
