More tank pics, updated

This will likely be my last post on Nemo the acara. He's pretty much on life support now.

He's just too weak, and his body no longer seems to move, its getting that 'stiff' thing going on. He's breathing but that's about it. The crazy thing is that ALL of the fluff/fungus is completely gone! So its weird he's even weaker with that stuff removed. I'm no fish doctor but it seems to me that half his body is already dying (color looks off). It would take an insane miracle for a turnaround but I'm not expecting it.

The seller that I've purchased from on Ebay has one last sizeable Acara available. I'll look into it. Either that or a gold severum, if I can locate one around at least 4 inches. Maybe I'm crazy or stubborn, but I like acaras. They're incredibly personable, aware and mischief makers. But now that I know they're jumpers I will take double precautions in the future.

The good news is that my Chocolate Bobo is in fine shape now...he was looking really bad weeks ago too. So I guess the lesson is there's always hope.

The Honduran redpoint Pip is doing very well, and his blue coloration is really showing. I'll be doing a clean down of the QT tank (lots of foam at the surface).

A correction on my last post. Nemo is not going dark on one side, it was the lighting. I've moved him into a holding container. There is still maybe about 40 percent fuzz but it is smaller. The red area around his tail section has grown though. He's still breathing.

Happy trails, Nemo. ?

Will be ordering a small gold severum and another acara. Luck has to turn with the blue fish. More info later as I get it.

I think there was too much going on for Nemo to overcome. Before he jumped I was treating him for a (mild) sunken belly issue that seemed to come and go. In fact I was just getting him off of the Prazi treatments.

This is the worst run on a fish type I've had, 0-3. Had a bad run with Syno Catfishes too but that's turned around. Will do a QT tank refresh today. Pip (HRP) will have it all to himself for now.

Sorry to hear, RIP nemo

Sorry for the loss.

So, starting over.

Just finished up cleaning the QT tank. Hadn't realized how much tiny debris had gotten in the plants. Did a thorough siphon clean and nearly 100% water change. Pip is enjoying the clean water and extra space, racing around the tank like a loon. His blue coloring is really starting to show and looks 'electric' at certain light angles.

It's really difficult to treat a fish already compromised. I can't say for certain Nemo was 'cured' of his hollow belly issue. It was remarkable he held on like he did. These acaras are really tough and resilient. I was better prepared for this outcome because Nemo had lingered since Saturday.

The order is in for new fish. On the way is a smaller (3" ish) acara and a small golden severum. In case it goes south with this acara I still will have the severum as a backup buddy for Bobo. I saw some gorgeous golden ingot parrots (BIG), but the prices were high and I have a feeling I'd end up with more separate tanks.

Speaking of which, Bobo is doing great so I'm 1-1 for the hospital crew. He should be back to doing his ridiculous colors when he goes in the main tank.

Man, my Honduran Redpoint Pip can EAT. He's nearly doubled his size in less than two months...he'll grab a soaked pellet (garlic) and suck it into his tiny mouth without a trace. It looks like something out of a cartoon. Sometimes he's dark, sometimes he's shimmery striped with blue patches. I'll grab a pic when he slows down enough. He loves exploring every nook and cranny. He even comes up to snatch food from my fingers (Brick was my only other fish to do this, but he was a juvie at the time).

Pip can almost eat his weight a day! It's crazy, I don't know where he puts it.
