@#$%^& these Acaras and their jumping the tank!! :swear:

So half an hour ago I go downstairs during a Wash/Tampa game break to see if anyone wants to eat and settle them down for the night. Nemo the Acara was missing from the QT tank. Pissed, I look around. Just like Felix, he was clear across the floor. So I'm ready to carry him out but then noticed his gills moving a little. So I immediately plopped him in the tank. He laid on his side stiff, then started jerking around. I took the airstone and placed it near his head. Turned off the light and added some salt. He was sitting upright at the bottom in a minute. I'll check on him later.

Yes, I had a lid and yes, it was weighted down with the light. I may have a piece of screen I can place under the lid. I'm fed up with this.

Not only are they jumpers, but apparently powerful jumpers. What the hell, do they fly?? Both acaras I found clear across the room from their tanks!

Hopeful news.

I changed to a fresh tank of water in the QT tank. (there was some Metro in addition to salt). Nemo made it through the night. He was dark and stiff at first but his color has now much improved. He is swimming mid level to top carefully but his fins are opening up. He is favoring the side he landed on a bit and doesn't use that fin as much. But the pine coning on his head is gone and he's moving more smoothly. Guess he's at about 70%.

His fins look much better too, they were half white last night. I added stress coat.

Latest on the acara Nemo.

This afternoon he erupted in white fungus patches on the side he landed on. I can only guess he got some kind of funky infection/reaction from lying on the tile. I've dosed Kanaplex. If he lasts until Tuesday he'll get the second dose.

Not much else to say at this point.

Good luck! Fingers crossed ?

To get this out of the way, Nemo is still alive. I've included pictures here to show what's going on with the fungus. You can see the quick erosion of his fins.

First, his 'good' side. He's resting against the divider.

This is his 'bad' side, the one that had contact with the tile floor. I treated him with salt and Kanaplex yesterday. If anyone has ideas I'm listening. Image is fuzzy from salt residue on the glass.

I have no idea if Nemo will pull through or not. One minute he's rolling over and listing, the next he's swimming around. I'm looking into 'fish bandage' if it's available.

Thanks everybody. All I can do is hope for the best.

Nemo is a fighter, I'll give him that. I've moved an airstone next to him which seems to help. His breathing is stronger and I can see his mouth/gills move for the first time since he jumped. Some of the fungus is starting to slough off. He still looks like s+++ though. Tomorrow is the next treatment with fresh water.

Currently using Kanaplex. Not sure if Sulfaplex would work faster or not.

On a more positive note Bobo the chocolate is doing very well, thank you. No more pimples, scraped scales, funky slime coat, etc. Today finished the last of his salt treatment so he has a tub of fresh water. I plan to return him to the main tank this weekend. The main tank finished with the salt this past Saturday.

The nightcrawlers I ordered got here just in time...Brick had pretty much finished most of the ones I had in the tote. With the Covid there's shipping delays everywhere. Greedy @ss would gulp a mouthful if I let him. I have no idea where Brick packs it all.

Tango is enjoying his airstone more and more. He's really getting huge.

Some happy pics:

Shots of Tango. Starts hiding behind stuff when I get the camera!
