New project, will take a long time

So I rang up the company yesterday and was told the guy who deals with this sort of thing is not in but they will try and get someone to ring me later. No joy, no call, so I thought I'd leave it until today. I got into work and got on with things and the phone rang, it was the guy who'd been off the day before. I told him the problem and he said he knew straight away what it was, bring it around tomorrow and he sort it out.....result!

Glad that they'll fix it for you with no hassles. Now let's get on with it... :-p

One of the deciding factors, when I purchased my Sequence/Reeflo DART, was the legendary service...I read of where there was this Koi pond that had no other means of filtration and it was a failing pump, that had the problem.
The company sent a new one out, while the old one was still limping along. The change was done and the defective pump sent back. That's just not something you see these days...

Glad you got results...:headbang2

Its a necessary service when you are only running one pump. I would ask before unhooking yours if they have a loaner you can use. It doesn't take long without circulation before you are looking at a mini cycle which can start an algae bloom which can take weeks to get balanced out again. The air in your FB should keep things alright, but risks are best if they can be avoided.

Not really, I've extend the patio out a lot more. Filtration is a real pain at the moment. I just can not clear the blanket weed, when I get on top of it it just reduced to sludge and clogs the filters. The pond is a real mess at the moment and for some reason every time I get an idea I tend to post it:eek: To be honest I think I'll leave doing anything to next year now, the winter chill will clear the weed and then I've just got to stop it from coming back. I know the filters can handle the size of the pond as they've cleared it in no time before when they were first fired up, plus I know the bio load is ok, the fish are fine and still as hungry as ever, water params are fine it's just not clear. I can live with it for now:naughty:

Since the pump went down I've been using a little sub one which I use for clearing out the filters, just so there is some water running through the filter, with the air up to max. Here's the story:

Posted on another forum, I know I should hang my head in shame but MFK doesn't have a massive koi fan base;)

EA=Evolution Aqua
Guy 'x'=was called Harvey, I didn't use the name because at no point in the tale did anyone ask for prove of purchase and I didn't want to get anyone in trouble(granted he probably just track the serial;))

Well here is the story of my experience with EA, you never really know if the company is any good until something goes wrong.

I rang up Monday explained my problem and that the pump was 6-8months old and was told that 'X' wasn't in today and they'd try and get someone else to ring me later, Monday passed and nothing, so obviously I jumped to conclusions and was ready for a big fight to get it sorted out on Tuesday, how wrong I was.

Luckily I've been mega busy in work and not really had the time to deal with the phone much but on Tuesday at about 0830 I got a call from 'x' at EA. Full of apologies that he had a day off and couldn't help me the day before. I explained the problem and he said straight away said he knew what was wrong and if I could bring it in he'd happily sort it out. Now I happen to work about 30 seconds away from EA which is quite handy and I arranged to drop it off first thing in the morning even though he didn't start until later he said just to tell the guy that I'd arranged to drop it off for him and it would all be sort.

So I did, the guy looked strangely at me as I carried the pump and quite a lot of attached pipe work to the door as they were opening. Claiming that know one could help just yet I simpled stated that 'x' had said it was alright to drop it off and if they could leave the pipe work attached great(I'm out of thread tape, it didn't occur that they were bound to have some in, but hey it was early:nilly:), if not it didn't matter. So I left it on the reception floor and went off to work.

Finished work and went back in and I stated I was back for the pump to be greeted by 'x' who happily explained that he thought it was all down to a problem in assembly where the threads are lined up mm out so that over time it just works loose. He went on to say that all the seals have all been changed, the impella had been changed and when he bench tested it, it was a touch down on power so he's replaced a capacitor in the motor as well. This all came a price though, to do all this he had to remove my pipework:irked:, but when it was fixed he even put all that back together again after writing down the number of turns it took to get the pipes off:headbang2. All this from one phone call after leaving just my first name and number.

Got it home plumbed it back in, works better than even.

One huge thumbs up to the guys at EA!

Nice!

Great to hear.

You have everything set up right, I bet next year it will be cleared out. It just takes soooo much longer than a tank to get thoroughly stabilized and balanced.

WOW great story, the people over at this EA place sound really swell, they should be here instead of there. But what I can't get over is that you have not just one pond but 2 and that you don't have boxes of thread tape just laying around just in case theres trouble........Seeing on all the hassel yu've already went through to get this thing setup. Thread tape gotta be like what $ oops 2 pounds 6 pents.;)
