Wow - spectacular.

Are you finding all the filtering, sterilizing, and cleaning of the water to be difficult? This is what a swimming pool should be like - biological and mechanical filtration without all the chemicals used in a typical pool. Do you all swim in the pool often?

I think your choice to not add much fish stock is a good one. Your desire for clean, clear swimming water and a large biological fish load would be difficult to mesh.

One thing I found very interesting as I read through the thread is your ability to change plans and build as you saw fit. It appears that you do not have to submit plans, get permits, pass inspections, etc. as would have to be done elsewhere (the states) - true?

As you look back - are there any major things that you would have done differently?

At first I couldn't keep up with the amount of algae getting caught up in the filter pads. Not the matela fine ones though, the white filter felt. I had to clean it about twice a day. The filter felt wan't letting my water through. After about two months of that, I'm down to about cleaning the main filter twice a week. I'm vacuuming about twice a week and I brush the bottom twice a week. It could use the brushing about three times though. I lose the light blue tint pretty quick with the algae growth on the bottom.

My kids get home at about 2:00pm. They are in the pool at around 2:02pm, everyday.

I wish the pool was deeper, but then again its perfect for my children. Its better safe then sorry.

I'm running into two interesting situations. There are hundreds of snails that get caught in the pump basket that I have to clean out every time I vacuum. The other is these little worms that are covering the rocks of the waterfalls. They are pretty nasty. I suppose if they fall off into the water all of the little fish will eat them. The first photo is of a rock with the worms around the edge of the falls. The middle rocks are black with them.

These large rocks are making for great perches for my kids to warm up on.
