Yey everyone,

it has been one month to date since the arrival of BB, red and X-back. The red has completely overtaken the BB in size now, though coloraton wise BB is recovering better (red is still orange-ish). X-back has grown considerably, though no longer accepts HIKARI - coloration is also quite pale - gold with blue hues. ALL fish are quite shiny

They don't get along together that well, though there has not been anything too serous yet ... i am contemplating divider ...though a 3' divider will need to be custom made over here. ALl three are eating though i think i spoilt them cos they are quite capricious from day to day = i indulge them too much. L600 only eats prawns that fall to the bottom

As they are settling in, the pecking order is being tested - BB and red in particular. They really puff at each other alot and today i have observed BB trying to wrestle food out of red's mouth!!!! even though there was a frog floating nearby.

I am contemplating moving one of the larger silver aro to the set-up though i am not sure how it will be taken by the asian aros ... what about L600 and sting ray: who is going to pounce on who?

Anyway, enjoy the pix ^^

gold is not complete gold the red is not completely red ... they are both halfway ^^ the only one who is what it is supposed to be is L600 and BB

<sigh> ... i am separating BB and red - too much fighting when the lights go out.

Red is really turning out to be a bully. I have the divider ready and will separate BB+X-back on one side with Red, bichir and L600 on the other side.

Hopefully BB will not turn on X-back ... X-back was slightly damaged by red (not fins but some of the scales looks slightly trashed i think)

Red is truely turning on everybody as he is getting climatized and fully settling in - he claimed the whole tank for himself. Attempts to re-introduce a similar sized green failed miserably!!! while red was not paying any attention to the new arrival (at least not yet), BB completely went haywire and was fighting with green (chasing him around the tank and snapping at him). I was rather afraid that when green recovered from shock of being moved he will turn on the them all (it was quite tricky to catch the green in such a large set-up!)...i would not do to have a cheap green kill off the treasures... so i put him back into the silver set-up where the silver aros are kings and jar shares the bottom with stingray ^^

PS: the new home for jar is ready and cycling ... more on that soon

The pix when i attempted to mix green with BB, red and X-back ... it was meant to decrease aggression with theory of "the more of them, the less likely chance of fighting"

boy, was i wrong. The fighting erupted immediately between BB and green.

After removing green back to silver tank, BB and red hostilities resumed.

So now, BB and X-back are on one side of the divider while red is on the other side... i just hope X-back was not completely trashed by BB (no phone call so far, so i assume all is still well)

Anywho, just couple of pix of failed attempt at mixing.

you don't need to keep minimum 12. But in my case, they are fighting so they are separated. I have another successful comm tank with no problems.

You don't need to buy in large quantities from farms, they will sell you even one. See MFK Singaporean vendors. They have asian aros for sale

The red is definitely coming along nicely in solitary. the tail and fins are now red. The pix below are taken with no lights on. Can't wait to get him to start redding his head and scales. these are getting deep orange at the moment.

Quality of pix still sux, but they were taken in a hurry last sunday as i was leaving.

PS: more on the tank mates later - they are sharing the other half of the aquarium
