Cheap plants, less nitrate! POTHOS

I don't have any pics right now. I snipped off some cutting right below a root node and the roots seem to be growing. The leaves aren't submerged. I was only getting yellow leaves on one of the cuttings so far. I'll keep monitoring it. Thanks for the reply

In that case it will take a bit to get settled. And some cuttings just don't work.

Any questions you or anyone have are more then welcome on this sticky!

I think it is better to first put the cuttings in a vase and allow the roots to grow.in ideal conditions the roots should form within a week.I did it the same way for about 2 months and then i placed it in the aquarium.None of the leaves turned yellow.I think in your case the plant is in a shock and getting acclimated to the new setup. The best way would be to do it F1VET style.Buy a plant ,wash the roots, snip an inch and you are good to go.

Yes it is harsh on any established plant to rip it out of soil, wash it, cut roots and throw it in a fish tank. Ime I've had 1 plant that just wouldn't take the change, it happens...

Good tips!

Thought I would just put up a video with the two I actually have in the tank right now and there will be two more going in as soon as I clean them up that you will see on top of the tank still in baskets towards the end:

I've had a few that wouldn't adjust to strictly water.

I had a few vines that where dying so I decided to pot them. I pulled the group of clones I had planted in the pot and put them in my Emperor 400. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1381781763.167706.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1381781802.664136.jpg

This is nice! I might actually try this in my frontosa tank.Algae already established itself in the tank, maybe doing this might lessen them.:clap

Yes pothos will out compete algae for nutrients whilst lowering nitrates.
