Cheap plants, less nitrate! POTHOS

My roots are taking the tank over.
I gotta get a tank for just my plants and set up and overhead sump for em.
They are certainly doing there job sucking up nitrates.

I had photos on my betta breeding tank before and moved them to my pond. Im wondering if its also consuming ammonia and not just nitrates. The reason Im asking is because my ammonia is always 0 and nitrates is stable at 20.

I have a couple threads regaurding this tank...There is one title "growouts", that has the newest pics w/ my pothos plants.

It will consume some ammonia BEFORE it has a chance to be broken down by BB and then nitrates as well. Hard to say if it lowers n03 because it consumes ammonia pre cycle or if its both.

I guess having an established plant on a new uncycled stocked tank would be one way to tell.

My two plants doing well in the sump under an 8W compact fluro.





Roots are starting to form a good mass, I'm hoping as they get bigger they'll help catch the larger debris before it gets to the sponges.

No it's a half-finished insulated plywood cabined for the sump! Not sure what I'm going to do with it, the plan has changed a bit since I've added the pothos, kinda left it in the too-hard-basket for now...
