Help Me Poly Stock

I personally will never put a flowerhorn with anything else ever again, they're murderers. Look up the cryptoheros genus, really beautiful, colorful fish that stay small.

I read they were dicks, but didn't know they were that bad. thanks! Will avoid! The cryptoheros are pretty; especially the nanoluteus and the cutteri. The blue eyes are cool.

I saw one of my sens do a death roll for the first time yesterday, after coming home being frustrated with my fish. I'm taking it as a sign, one of the coolest things I've "sen" in one of my aquariums.

Funny that we are talking about this. Last night another member and i were having the same exact convo. I love the new tank and the polys but am at the point where i feel less is more. The problem is polys are such great fish amd for the most part get along so its easy to keep buying. At this point after the few polys i have coming later today i am done regardless what other cool polys become available. Anymore added woukd mean soneone has to go.

Two tanks has always been my limit anymore and it gets un-enjoyable. Now i have the faranah lap putting on some size in the 75 gal and will keep thr new polys in there until wc time to ser if i coykd sneak everyone in without the ornate taking much notice. But if it werent for the female het id close down the 150 and have just the 1 tank. Giving a few more hets and the metae to a friend later today. Aaaaahhj rant over.

wait, did you say more polys coming in today?! If it's a PBB, someone will blow a gasket. Probably Hulk or the ornate.

Definitely appreciate wanting to cap the number of tanks and number of fish. Big reefs and fish rooms can be fun. For me personally I feel like I start to give less and less individual attention the more fish I have. Sometimes it's just nice to sit back and watch one or two really nicely-stocked ecosystems.

How many tanks do you have running right now?
Would you ever move the female het into the 300gal?

I had an epiphany of what I want to do here, I knew the answer would come to me. I'm going to purchase the biggest tank I can, most likely a 265, and do a cichlid/poly tank. I've got to do right by the fish I already have and I really want more polys so it's win win. The hets aren't going to be big enough to go with my other cichlids for a year anyway. By the time they're ready to join their cichlid friends I'll have time to purchase another decent sized tank for the polys only. Any cichlid whose not a good community fish will be promptly removed.

that sounds really cool! Plus like you said, you can keep the fish you have, add new additions, and then not have to deal with trouble makers(for that tank).
And you can keep cichlids AND polys.

It'll be an experiment but I know my cichlids, they're pretty mellow and often hang at the top. I'm optimistic
Check out cryptoheros panamensis too, stunning fish. I think people keep bichir with mbuna sometimes too but that doesn't sound like a good idea to me lol

The 300 , 150, and the 75 up and running. Id love to keep just the 300 and close the others down buti would trust the bigger polys around the little het plus hulk would be a douche. He tortured her in the 150 and would most likely do the same in the 300.

As for the new polys geez im still trying to figure out what happened today. Will post latwr

That's A really good idea to have the options of a tank or two in case something happens. Especially with all the different personalities. Glad that hulk isn't torturing the het anymore!

Sold all the cichlids in my 75, all the aggressive guys are gone. Now I can move the hets, crpyts, and congo tetra into the 75 and take down the 55 they were in. Feels really, really good to be able to take down a tank!

I asked my girl if I should move the sens into the 75, I'm glad she said no. I would have more polys ordered already lol The grand plan is one step closer

I'd love to keep it to one tank. That's the long term goal. My 5 inchers need to be 10 inchers and I need to upgrade one more time and this 125 and 75 are gone. I'll get the little guys up big and get me an Endli!
