Lots of pics past and present

It's nice seeing someone going whole hog on black neons, they are so often overlooked due to lack of color, but have a nice pattern and subtle coloring under low lighting. Thank looks great. I'd want a little green in it at least if it were mine though. I add some plants even to blackwater tanks, not sure why. Maybe I just like the contrast.

That is a beautiful setup! I love tetras myself, one of my favorite fish. I have been collecting some rare tetras within the last year.
My latest venture is I am cycling a ten gallon tank for the South American nano sp. Tucanoichthys tucano . Here is my tank :

Tucaoichthys tucano is an amazing subtle, yet strikingly colored fish when placed in a tank stained with tannins. Here is a video of them, again, not my own...

I am inspired by your set-up Stanzzz7. And, additionally happy that others appreciate this amazing species.

Nice tank,and a beautiful tetra.

I've been a cichlid fanatic for years and all the other species I keep are normally thought of In a secondary, supporting cast type of way.
I seem to be shifting on this more and more lately. I'm finding fish like tetras and catfish just as fascinating. Not just as a complimentary, supporting cast role but as equals to the cichlids themselves.
I'm also finding the hobby more rewarding as a result of this change in attitude.

Can't make my mind up on plants. Not sure if I want any or not.If I do it will be just something like the odd clump of hair grass and maybe some water hyacinth or amazon frog bit.

I've always liked black neons and they are a little underrated in my opinion.
I'm also very fond of the bentosi tetras.
It's hard to catch the tetras in their true glory with a phone camera.

I have a tetra that looks very much like a black neon, but that the finnage has a red tone to it. It is hyphessobrycon nigricinctus.
