Lots of pics past and present

My man! PFK needs to pay you a visit, and I think this tank should see some competition action! It just gets better and better :D

Looking good buddy.

Unrelated question... What size tank were your T. helleri in?

Thanks Chris.
The helleri started off in a 90 gallon, I had 12 to begin with. I kept them in there for about 18 months. They ended up in my 7x2x2. I think I had around 20 in there. Some were the original group and the rest were their offspring.

Here's a video that shows off the schooling of the tetras a bit better.

Seriously, that was so beautiful that it made my jaw drop ... it was almost like an emotional experience.! The motion of the tetras, it is just like birds in the sky when they fly in unison. Okay, all the big fish guys are gonna laugh at this so I wont say any more. Im being a weepy girl. But, I see you get it--- that is exactly what I'm talking about.

Thanks Lilyann.

Yeah I get it.
I can't see me setting up another tank without a decent shoal of tetras, they are definitely the stars of this set up.

When I set up a new tank I normally choose a cichlid and build a biotope up to fall in place with that cichlid.
Cichlids have always ruled the way for me and anything else fits in around them.
For the first time in years,I am seeing the worth of other fish species and how they can be just as impressive as the cichlids.
I can honestly say I don't remember being as impressed with any of my cichlids as I am with this large shoal of characins.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I couldn't be more happy with this set up.

WOW, those tetras are crazy.

I can't wait until you get breeding activity. Do you think that massive swarm of tetras are going to pose problems for fry to even make it to the wriggler stage? I know this is not a breeding tank, so it may not be a concern.

Thanks ahud.

I imagine the tetras will pose problems for any fry from the rams, especially the bentosi tetras. They are a very feisty and greedy tetra.
I love to watch the behaviour of breeding cichlids but I'm not really looking to raise lots of fry. It would be nice to think a few could make it to adulthood but it's doubtful.
I think the catfish may stand a higher chance of a few successful spawns.
Time will tell I guess but I don't mind either way.
