I'm actually about to start putting together a sump very similiar in design to this one in the next few days.

Question: is the last baffle before the pump necessary? Is it's only purpose to eliminate air from entering the pump?

I'd like to know. About to pick up some glass and don't want to make more than one trip!

Jcardona, did you make your sump already?

As far as I know, the last piece of glass before the sump allow you to put a piec of foam for filtering and even without the foam help keep debris from reaching the pump and going back into the tank.

Another thing the last divider does is limit the amont of water that can be pumped into the tank in the case of a drain issue.

If my old setup didnt have that, the volume of water in the sump would overflow the tank if the drains got clogged.
