you guys dont know jack **** about this tank.... how do you know he isnt running a heavy drip? doing daily water changes... you cant say its living in it own piss and ****.... seriously id say that guy is one hell of a fish keeper if its 41 years old...

lol.. You can drip all the water you like into that system, water change every day? Water quality may be fine but it still doesn't justify the size of the tank in any way, shape or form for such a fish.
By your theory, it would be fine to keep an umbee in a 50g because I have it hooked up to a drip system or a 180g sump.Sorry, but you have lost me there?

That most of the people here..whining little girls...friggin fish has out-lasted millions of other Pacus

I'm sure the fish is as thrilled as you are... My pacus outgrew their 75 years ago, and are on the verge of outgrowing their 220. It would take a complete nutjob to think those pics are of a happy, healthy fish...let alone be the proud owner with it on display...

Too bad it's age is all BS anyway. I mean, come on... You do know a thing or two about fish, right? Common sense should be exercised here.

well, you can tell by the body shape as I said that the fish was not raised properly.

any pacu keeper can tell you that in one glance.

the fish was malnurished growing up, hence the retarded growth visible on the rear half of the body..

pacu do not grow like that unless they are not fed properly when in their growth spurts, which for fish like that is the first 3 years of its life...

So your saying the store owner is a liar? HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THE FISH IS HAPPY?? You a fish psychiatrist??
YES...that is exactly what I am saying...He is a liar, and a pi**poor fishkeeper. If by "fish psychiatrist" you mean being able to look at a fish and see that it hasen't been able to move by more than it's bodylength in (supposedly) 39 years and tell that it is unhappy (for lack of a better word), then yes, I am a "fish psychiatrist". :screwy:

Out of curiosity, do you have anything similar at your pace? Would YOU proudly display that garbage?

Yup, I currently have two that are almost 2 feet. One I raised from 5 inches, the other I rescued at a foot and a half (from a 55). They look nothing alike.

FRP... Look at the pics again. See all the BB algae in the tank (and in the guppy tank in the back)? I would be willing to bet money that the nitrates are off the charts in his system(s).

well.....it's alive for 40 years....that means he's doing something right i mean yea tank might be to small always the bigger the better, but water conditions should be more crucial and it seems to be working for him

IT'S AMAZING HOW WE ARE OFTEN SO JUDGEMENTAL . . . THE MAN DID SOMETHING RIGHT. PROOF IS IN THE FACT THAT THE FISH IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL. HALF OF US CAN BARELY KEEP A FISH ALIVE FOR 5 YEARS, EVEN WITH ALL OF OUR THEORY AND HIGH-TECH EQUIPTMENT.
